Miley Cyrus Tour Banned from Santo Domingo on Moral Grounds

According to Latinonewstoday.com:

"In an interesting turn of events, the government of the Dominican Republic has banned Miley Cyrus from performing in the entire country. This sudden banning was carried out by an oversight commission that is in charge of deciding if performances are allowed in the country. The commission has been active for a number of years, but has very rarely decided to ban a singer. Instead, the commission will generally ban things like political rallies, and will occasionally ban a film from being played.

The commission has stated that it decided to ban the 21 year olds’ performance as the result of her engaging in acts that are against the morals and customs of the country. This includes things like dressing in a provocative manner, twerking, and doing dance moves that include things like crotch grabbing.

The ban has resulted in Miley Cyrus having to reschedule her tour through South America, and means that she will lose out on one of the biggest audiences scheduled for her tour. Tickets to the concert cost between twenty-seven and three-hundred seventy dollars apiece, and the tickets for the September 17th performance have been on sale since the middle of July. The singer stated that some of the tickets will be refunded, but most were purchased at a buy at your own risk basis. The banning may result in future problems with local governments, and it may prompt persons to hesitate about buying tickets for concerts that simply will not be allowed."
